Here we plan to place some comments from our visitors
book, but as this is a new villa there are not too many
at present.

Hello Lee, we thought it might be useful
for your other visitors to see how we spent our time in
Jalon. We stayed for 10 days and did something different
most days, and I am sure there is much more besides what
we discovered!
We arrived in Jalon on Tuesday night, just
before midnight, and immediately stopped in at the Lemon
Tree pub for a much-needed drink! The pub is English run
serving a range of English beers and light snacks, oh, and
it stays open late!
Wednesday
We spent the day in Jalon looking around the town then enjoying
lunch in Riu Rau a smart restaurant with both inside and
outside eating. We had the rabbit and fish, both were delicious.
Thursday
Visited the waterfall, Fuentes de Algar. Don’t park
at the first parking service you find, as people will charge
you a small fee. If you drive all the way up the waterfall
it’s free to park and it’s undercover. You might
want to take your swimming trunks as many people dive off
the rocks into the clear blue water.
Friday
We went to Benidorm, which I can’t say I liked very
much. The beach was over crowded. There were too many English
people and it felt more like a British seaside resort rather
than somewhere on the Med. Back in Jalon it was the start
of a five day fiesta, which lasts until Tuesday, but I should
warn you it doesn’t start until at least 10pm!
Saturday
Saturday morning saw the arrival of a fairly large flea
market in Jalon town, it was nice to take an hour to walk
around and we found a couple of bargains
In the afternoon we took the short drive
to Calpe. The yachts are a lovely sight in the harbour with
the sun reflecting back from the sea, a very relaxing place!
The town itself is very clean and smart looking with a lovely
big promenade running along the sea front. A perfect place
to go running, but just stop ever so often and catch a glimpse
of the waves crashing against the rocks, and of course take
time to see the impressive Peñon de Ifach rock soaring
out of the sea.
The Fiesta in Jalon moved on with all the
locals out in the town square where a huge dish of paella
was being prepared, and when I say huge I’m talking
about a 7-foot wide wok!
Sunday
The fiesta carried on with church members parading through
the street. We set off for Denia, which has a very long
beach and is definitely worth a walk along. If you like
cats you find plenty of them hiding in the rocks at the
sea front. For lunch we stopped and ate at a restaurant
called “Restaurante La Taverna” which was where
we had my first, and most enjoyable, taste of Tapas.
If you fancy some horse riding you can
go to nearby Les Albardaneres Blanques which is on the outskirts
of Denia.
Back in Jalon we decided to eat at “Restaurante Chino-Indonesio”,
which is a fabulous Chinese restaurant in the heart of Jalon
town, well worth a visit as the food and service are excellent.
Monday
We went to Altea and this was the most Spanish feeling big
town that we visited. You must walk through the Old Town
and visit the church high upon the hill. The view from the
top is lovely.
The fiesta was into its fourth day back
in Jalon. Tonight they had a firework display, which we
had a fantastic view from the villa as you will see the
fireworks at eye level.
Tuesday
Orba is a very small Spanish town. A town you could drive
through in less than 2mins, but you must stop at the pottery
shop/factory. They don’t make everything on site but
their selection is quite impressive if you are looking for
a little something to take back home.
Tuesday was the last night of the fiesta
and as normal, the party starts late and goes on well into
the night. If you are hungry you can sample wild boar amongst
many other local dishes.
Wednesday
We visited the prehistoric caves of Benidoleig, although
not very big, I still found it impressive. There are also
caves a little further out at La cova del Rull that we were
told are even more impressive.
On the way to Pedreguer there are many
shops selling plates and pots, all of which are very attractive
but look a little to commercial, and are designed to tempt
the tourist eye. Remember to pay a visit to Orba and you’ll
know it was worth waiting for.
We went to Xabia (Javia) and in my opinion this was the
best beach out of all the ones that we had visited.
We visited the local wine cooperative where
you can try out local wines, and buy wine very cheaply.
If you go to Jalon in September you can actually see the
wine being made.
Thursday
Sadly, we came home. Lovely vila Lee, nothing wanting at
all.
